Dorothy (Dori) Schafer, Ph.D.
Associate Professor
I received my BA from Mount Holyoke College in 2001 and my PhD from Dr. Matthew Rasband’s lab at UConn Health Center in 2008. As a postdoc, I was one of the founding members of Dr. Beth Stevens lab at Boston Children’s Hospital/Harvard Medical School (2008-2014) where we identified a key role for microglia in pruning synapses in the developing visual system. I started my own lab at UMass Medical School in 2015 where we are continuing our work to understand how microglia modulate neural circuits in health and disease.
